Virtual Reality Webcam Sessions
Currently there's only one webcam platform that has virtual reality (VR) live cam capabilities. A VR show takes live video chat to the next level with an immersive experience that lets the viewer see far more than the traditional static viewpoint of a positioned webcam. If you own a VR headset and haven't tried a VR live show yet, then really the only question is, why not?
As you can see, Stripchat is the only platform with a selection of VR enabled rooms to visit. Other sites have, for a limited period, tried to create a VR category - but none continued with it. If more top sites begin streaming VR shows, we'll be the first to review it
The Difference Between VR and Regular Live Video Cams
Most of us are used to a live video chat show with the model performing in front a camera that has a static view point, with the host having to either ensure they perform within the scope of the webcam lens or manually move the camera in order to capture a different angle.
When it comes to a VR cam session, the models either use a 360 degree camera, or more commonly have two live cams set up which merge the images for a much wider and all-encompassing view. This means you can decide where and what to look at, quite often with the model oblivious to where your focus is. Many VR users actually prefer not to make their next-generation cam session a 2way video one, remaining instead as a pure observer to the activities unfolding all around them.
How To Start A Live VR Private Show
It's extremely easy to find all the online rooms at Stripchat that are VR enabled. On the left side menu bar, the first category is Specials. This features not only a link to all the VR online hosts, but also shows how many are broadcasting at the time. The selection isn't huge. Of the near 2,000 models actively online during most hours of the day, 15 to 20 of them are VR enabled. Another option is to simply scroll down the homepage until you come to the grouping of VR rooms which features static snapshots grabbed moments before from a live feed.
Once you go into the room, you can watch the show for free, but it's obviously not streaming as a VR session. If you want to see the action through your VR headset - you'll need to begin a paid-for private session.
Before starting the show, make sure your VR headset is synced. If you're viewing on a Windows platform you'll need to download Gizmo VR, Steam VR or Oculus.
For users on an Android platform, the options are: Gizmo VR, Carboard, Daydream, GearVR of Oculus Go.
Once your chosen system is downloaded, you then click 'Watch in VR' on the selected platform's website or on Gizmo VR you write 'Stripchat.com' in the address field. Do this only after you have already purchased site tokens.
Once you start a private date with the model you then click on the VR icon located on the bottom left of the live video screen.
Conclusion
If you have a VR headset, it's worth your while to experiment with a live cam VR model. The technology is still in the early days with improvements expected to enhance the current immersive live chat experience. What makes it even more attractive is that there's no premium to turn a private show into a VR session. Per minute rates stay the same regardless of whether you're enjoying a 2D or VR show. However, many models will insist on a minimum block of time of at least 5 minutes before entering a private show.
And, if you don't have a VR headset, that doesn't mean you have to miss out on spending time with the host. All VR rooms stream in regular HD.
